Getting around Brisbane

Translink Integrated Network
Public Transport in South East Queensland is run by the Translink integrated network. Public transport options within Brisbane include: Trains, Buses, CityCat Ferries, and Cross River Ferries. To use public transport you need a contactless GO Card, which can be obtained from train station ticket offices, most Newsagents and any 7-11. If you are taking the Airtrain from the airport to the city then you can obtain a GO Card from the Airtrain Ticket Office at the Train Station. Load your Go Card with appx $45 AUD, this should cover a return fare from the airport to the city plus the public transportation fares to attend the Sunday workshops at UQ.

If you took a cab to the city: The outlet closest to the BCEC selling GO Cards is the South Brisbane Train Station. In the City Centre, visit the EzyMart convenience store in the underground concourse level of the King George Square Busway Station, or Rankins on the Mall (in the centre of the Queen Street Mall). In this case you need to load only $10 on your GO Card to attend the Sunday workshops at UQ. You need to “touch-on” when boarding a transport vehicle and “touch-off” when leaving. For more information about Brisbane’s public transport system, including a journey planner, timetables, fares, how to obtain/use a GO Card, and network/route maps, visit: www.translink.com.au. You can also download the free “MyTransLink” app to your mobile phone.

By Train
The closest train station is South Brisbane Railway Station on the corner of Grey and Melbourne Streets. The BCEC is a short walk of 460m from the station.
Trains run regularly between South Brisbane Railway Station and the Gold Coast.
Statewide rail connections leave from Roma Street Station’s Transit Centre which is only one train stop away from South Bank.
For arrival and departure times for public transport to and from South Brisbane Railway Station phone 13 12 30 or visit www.translink.com.au. South Brisbane Railway Station is located in Zone 1.

By Bus
The closest Busway station is the Cultural Centre Busway Station located in Melbourne Street which is a 200m walk to the BCEC. Cultural Centre Busway Station is located in Zone 1. The Cultural Centre is the main hub for most bus routes, only a few minutes walk away adjacent to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). A Free Loop downtown bus service circles Brisbane’s Central Business District only. Brisbane City Buses stop at several locations around the South Bank precinct.
